Why Create a Pipedrive WordPress Form?
Though your Pipedrive CRM account helps you to stay in control of the sales process, you still need to add contacts or deals manually to your account.
The best solution is to create a custom Pipedrive form and add it to your WordPress site. Then you can connect the form to your Pipedrive account with the help of Zapier.
So whenever someone submits the form, a new deal will be created in your Pipedrive account.
This will make it easy for your prospective clients to contact you. Also, it’ll help you save time and increase your productivity with lead capturing.
So without further ado, let’s get started with the step by step process of creating a custom Pipedrive WordPress form on your website.
How to Create a Custom Pipedrive WordPress Form
Follow these steps to start making your custom Pipedrive WordPress form easily.
Step 1: Install WPForms
The first thing you need to do is install and activate the WPForms plugin on your website. You can follow the beginner’s guide on how to install a WordPress plugin if you need any help.
Once you’ve activated WPForms, go ahead and install the Zapier addon, too. In your WordPress admin dashboard, go to WPForms » Addons and look for the Zapier addon. Then click Install Addon.
Zapier allows you to integrate WPForms to over 5,000 apps and do different types of automated tasks.
Step 2: Create Your Pipedrive WordPress Form
Next, you’ll need a form to connect to Pipedrive. To create a new form, go to WPForms » Add New from the left sidebar of your admin panel.
Once the form builder opens, you can name your form and choose a template. For our example, we’ll just use the Simple Contact Form template.
This template includes Name, Email, and Comment or Message fields.
Want to customize the form fields? You can simply click on any field in the preview area to open its field options and make changes to it. Also, you can go to the form settings to change the notification and confirmation settings.
You can follow our guide on how to create a simple contact form if you need more help to get started.
Once you’re happy with your form, click on the Save button in the top right corner of your screen.
Step 3: Add a Test Entry to Your Form
After creating the form, you need to add at least one entry to your form for testing the connection between WPForms and Pipedrive. This will be required later in this tutorial.
To do that, start by embedding your form on a page or in a sidebar of your website. The easiest way to do this is to click on the Embed button at the top of the form builder.
Then choose whether you want to add your form to an existing page or create a new page.
For this example, we’ll add a new page. Enter the page name, then click Let’s Go!
This will open your new page in the WordPress editor. Your Pipedrive form will already be embedded, so all you need to do is click Publish.
Now go to your new form page, fill in the form, and click on the Submit button to create a new entry for testing purposes.
Step 4: Create a New Zap
Zapier allows you to create zaps to connect 2 or more apps and do an automatic task continuously. And the zap requires a trigger to perform a specific action.
In our case, the trigger is when someone submits our Pipedrive form and the action is to send those leads to the Pipedrive account.
So go to the Zapier website and log in to your account. We recommend using a new browser tab, as you’ll need to look back at your WordPress dashboard during the setup process.
In case you don’t have a Zapier account, you can create one for free.
To create a new zap, click on the Create Zap button present in the top left corner. This will open up a new page to start the configuration wizard.
The process of creating a zap is divided into two parts. First, you need to set up WPForms as the trigger app, and then you’ll have to configure Pipedrive as the action app.
Let’s proceed to the next step to start the process.
Step 5: Configure WPForms as a Trigger App
The first thing you need to do to continue setting up your Pipedrive WordPress form is search for WPForms in the zap Setup Wizard and choose it as your trigger app.
You’ll have to choose a trigger event now.
WPForms offers New Form Entry as the only trigger option. So select it and click on Continue.
In the next step, you’ll have to connect Zapier to your WPForms account. To do that, click on the Sign in button to start the process.
This will open up a popup window and will ask you to enter your website URL and Zapier API key.
Back in your WordPress dashboard, go to WPForms » Settings » Integrations and look for the Zapier section. Expand it to view and copy your API key.
Add this and your website URL to the Zapier popup. Then click on Yes, Continue to connect WPForms to Zapier and close the popup window.
Next, you’ll need to choose the form you want to connect to Pipedrive. Choose the new form you created in the previous steps from the dropdown and click Continue.
To make sure Zapier is able to access your form, click Test trigger.
Zapier will now retrieve the test entry you submitted to this form.
Once it shows you the entry data, click Continue to move on to the next part of the zap setup process, where you’ll connect Pipedrive to Zapier.
Step 6: Configure Pipedrive as an Action App
In the previous step to setting up your Pipedrive WordPress form, you’ve configured WPForms as the trigger app.
It’s time to set up Pipedrive as our action app. First, search for and select Pipedrive.
Then select Create Deal as the action app event and click Continue.
Now you’ll need to connect Zapier to your Pipedrive account just like you did for WPForms. Click the Sign in button to get started.
This will open another popup window for you to enter your Pipedrive account email and password. Then click Log in.
Next, you’ll need to allow Zapier to access your Pipedrive account. You’ll see a list of all the permissions Zapier needs to connect WPForms to Pipedrive. Click Allow and Install.
After that, you’ll be directed back to Zapier. Click Continue to set up your Pipedrive deal template.
Step 7: Create Pipedrive Template
Now you’ll be asked to set up a template for creating a new Pipedrive deal. Whenever someone submits your form, Zapier will follow this template to create a deal in your Pipedrive account.
Let’s take a look a how to do that so you can continue setting up your Pipedrive WordPress form.
The most important field in this template is the Title. You can’t publish the zap without it.
A Pipedrive title can be whatever you want. For our example, we’re going to use “WPForms Lead” followed by the name entered in our contact form.
The rest of the fields are optional, so we’re going to skip them for now. However, you can pull information from your form or Pipedrive to include in your new deals using the rest of the fields provided.
Click Continue once you’re happy with your deal template.
Now we’ll test our connection to Pipedrive by sending creating a new deal using our contact form test entry. Click Test & continue to check your connection.
If everything worked properly, you’ll see a success message.
You should also see a new deal from your test entry in Pipedrive.
The last thing you need to do is click Publish Zap to make your connection live.
That’s all! You’ve successfully connected your WordPress form to Pipedrive to create a new deal.
