How to Sign Forms Online: Quick Guide
So, how do you create forms that accept signatures and allow people to sign them from their devices? If you’re running a WordPress website, this is really easy to do.
Here’s how:
Step 1: Install WPForms
WPForms gives you the easiest solution to create forms that let you add a signature field and collect online signatures. You’ll need to subscribe to WPForms Pro in order to get the powerful Signature Addon.
After purchasing WPForms Pro and installing the plugin on your website, you’ll need to install the Signature Addon.
To do this, navigate to WPPForms » Addon from your WordPress dashboard.
Then, install the Signature Addon.
Great. Now, it’s time to create a form with a signature field.
Step 2: Create a Form With Signature Field
While you’re inside your WordPress admin menu, go to WPForms » Add New.
Now, you’ll need to enter a name for your form and select a template. WPForms has a big library of over 2,000+ form templates. Many of these templates include a signature field by default.
I’ll use the School Club Registration Form Template for this tutorial. Once you select the template, it will load up inside the form builder in just a few seconds.
For this particular template, you can find the Signature field at the bottom.
All WPForms templates are fully customizable. That means you’re free to customize this template by adding new fields, removing any existing fields, or changing their settings.
For instance, you can change the ink color for the Signature field by using the color picker in its Field Options if you want.
See this guide on creating forms with electronic signatures for more details.
After you’re done with the customizations, make sure to press the Save button.
All that remains now is to publish the form.
Step 3: Publish the Form to Allow Visitors to Sign
Once you publish your form, you can start collecting online signatures conveniently online.
Start by pressing the Embed button at the top of the form builder.
You’ll be asked to select an embed method (embedding in an existing page or in a new page). Make the selections as required and follow the on-screen instructions.
Next, you’ll be taken to the WordPress page editor, where your form should appear embedded as a block.
Go ahead and publish your page when you’re ready.
Don’t forget to check out your form on the front end after publishing it. Try signing it yourself to make sure it’s working as expected.
Well done! With this form, you can now easily let visitors add their signatures online.
Examples of Forms Featuring Signature Fields
The Signature field typically appears in any online form where agreements, permissions, and acknowledgments are required between the concerned parties. Here are a few examples with templates:
Internal Company Forms
Online forms used in organizations commonly have a signature field for various purposes. These could include approvals, requests, and acknowledgments from employees or managers.
These WPForms templates are ideal if you’re looking for forms to use internally with a signature field:
- Employee Acknowledgement Form Template
- Standard Appraisal Form Template
- Employee Expense Reimbursement Form Template
Educational Forms
It’s a good practice to include the signature field in educational forms used for managing student activities, courses, and parental permissions.
Here are some examples of educational forms with signature fields from the WPForms template library:

- Classroom Materials Request Form Template
- School Club Registration Form Template
