WPForms 1.4.2

[NEW] Introducing Form Importer – Switch to WPForms in Just a Few Clicks

With the latest release of WPForms 1.4.2, we’ve added a tool you’ve been asking for: our new Form Importer!

Since our launch just last year, hundreds of thousands of people have made the switch from their clunky old form plugin to WPForms.

That’s because we designed WPForms with one big goal in mind: to make the most beginner-friendly form plugin for WordPress.

Not only is it super-easy to use, but it also comes with all the features you need to make even advanced forms, like conditional logic, form abandonment lead capture, invisible reCAPTCHA support, and so much more.

While the switch is totally worth it, the process of recreating all forms one by one was quite time consuming.

That’s why we built our new Form Importer tool – and made it available to ALL WPForms users.

Now it’s easier than ever to get started with WPForms.

The Form Importer is now available in the WPForms » Tools menu.

With just a few clicks, you can automatically import your forms from Contact Form 7 and Ninja Forms:

wpforms importer

That’s all it takes!

In just seconds, our importer will pull in all relevant data and information from your forms, including:

  • form fields
  • labels
  • required fields
  • reCAPTCHA settings
  • submission confirmation message
  • email notifications

You can find out more details and get step by step instructions in our new docs:

  1. This is a great new feature, thanks for your all your work on it. Any plans to include the ability to import forms from GravityForms?

    1. Hi Jules,

Yes, absolutely – we don’t have an ETA on that yet, but we do plan to expand out importer tool to include Gravity Forms in the future 🙂

    1. Hi Rob,

Sorry to hear you encountered an error! A 500 error stems from an issue with the server itself (a little more detail here), so the best next step is to reach out to your site’s hosting provider. They should be able to find more details about the precise cause.

If you have any questions after contacting your site’s host, please let us know! Here are links to our paid license support and Lite support 🙂

    1. Hi Stefanie,

We don’t have a Gravity Forms importer option yet, but I agree this would be a great feature addition. It’s on our feature request for consideration down the road! 🙂

    1. Hi Jules — We don’t currently have plans to add this option in the immediate future, but it’s still on our feature request list to consider later on!

      1. Hey Bob, I’ve noted your interest in this feature and added your email to our list to receive updates about this feature.

        Thanks!

  2. Is it possible to import a form from Caldera Forms into WPforms? (A form built using Caldera Forms can be exported into a .json file.)

    1. Hi Julie! Thanks for your question.

I apologize, but this can’t be done easily. WPForms JSON file has a different structure and won’t recognize the one exported from Caldera Forms plugin.
We have the form importer tool under WPForms > Tools, however, Caldera forms are not in the list of the supported plugins currently.
      I apologize for any confusion!

      Have a good one 🙂

    1. Hey Sean- Currently, we don’t have a feature to import the Forminator forms to WPForms. I do agree it would be super helpful, and we’ll keep it on our radar as we plan out our roadmap in the future. However, I apologize as we don’t have an ETA for that at the moment.

If you have any other questions, please let me know 🙂

    1. Hi Ahmed, currently we don’t an inbuilt feature to import entries from the excel sheets to WPForms. I apologize we can’t provide what you are looking for.

However, I’ve noted your interest in this feature and added your email to our list to receive updates about this feature.

      Thanks!

  3. When importing forms that have been exported from WP Forms on a different server, is it possible to keep the same Form IDs? This causes a big headache when porting code from one server to another.

    1. Hi Paul – While importing a form, the ID is likely to change as a means to keep your forms from becoming corrupted due to clashing form and field IDs in the database. If this happens, your form and fields would essentially be rendered useless, so in order to do that, the values are changed to fall in line with the forms that are on the website on which the form is being imported to.

With that said, I’m afraid there isn’t a way to keep the form IDs same, however, I’ll be sure to add our conversation here as a vote to the existing feature request for this feature.

      I hope this helps.
      Thanks 🙂
