Introducing SendGrid Marketing Integration for WPForms

You already trust SendGrid with one of the most valuable jobs in your marketing.

Turning contacts into customers.

Your lists, your segments, the campaigns you send. They all run on the audience you have built inside SendGrid.

So here is a question worth asking: when someone fills out a form on your site, do they actually make it into that audience?

For most WordPress sites, the answer is no.

The leads land in your form entries, and getting them into your SendGrid lists has meant reaching for a third-party tool, a bridge plugin, or a CSV export you run when you remember.

There had to be a better way. And now there is.

Introducing the WPForms SendGrid Addon

Today, I’m thrilled to announce the brand new WPForms SendGrid Addon!

You already know how good WPForms is at turning visitors into leads. Now those leads have a direct line into SendGrid.

The moment someone submits one of your forms, WPForms adds them to SendGrid as a contact and drops them into the lists you chose, automatically.

There is no third-party tool in the middle and no spreadsheet to maintain, just your forms feeding the SendGrid account you already use.

Everything the SendGrid Addon Can Do For You

You add a SendGrid connection to any form, map your fields, choose your lists, and save. And that is it. Here is what you get out of the box:

  • Add and Update Contacts Automatically: Map your form fields to SendGrid contact details, including email, name, phone, address, and any custom fields you have created in SendGrid. Every submission creates or updates that contact for you.

  • Drop Each Contact Into the Right Lists: Choose which SendGrid list a submission should join, straight from the form builder. Search your lists, pick as many as you need, and remove any with a single click.

  • Remove or Delete Contacts When You Need To: Beyond adding people, a form can remove a contact from a specific list or delete a contact entirely, so your SendGrid lists always reflect exactly what you intend.

  • Route Contacts With Conditional Logic: Send someone to your newsletter list when they check the opt-in box, or to your sales list when they request a quote. Each connection follows the rules you set.

  • Custom Fields Land in the Right Format: Text, number, and date fields are matched to their SendGrid type before they are sent, so your data arrives clean. If one value does not fit, that single field steps aside and the rest of the contact still lands.
UI for mapping custom fields to form fields, showing rows like First Name → Name (First), Last Name → Name (Last), Phone Number → Phone, Address Line 1 → Address, Job Title → Job Title with add/remove actions.
  • Smart Error Handling You Can Trust: If something goes wrong, WPForms shows a “Resend to SendGrid” button on the entry, writes a note in the entry log, and groups repeated failures into a single admin notice so your inbox isn’t flooded.

What This Looks Like for Your Business

Picture that someone fills out your newsletter signup form on a Saturday afternoon, while you are nowhere near your desk.

WPForms hands their details to SendGrid right then and adds them to your subscriber list. The welcome email you already set up in SendGrid takes it from there.

There is no Saturday spreadsheet to fill in and no Monday catch-up waiting for you. By the time you check in, that contact is already in SendGrid, sorted into the right list, and part of the campaign you built for exactly this person.

Who Is the WPForms SendGrid Addon Perfect For?

It is built for anyone who uses SendGrid’s Marketing Campaigns to stay connected with their audience. Here are just a few examples:

  • Marketers who want every form submission to land in the right SendGrid list, so segmentation starts at the form instead of in a cleanup session later.
  • Small business owners who collect leads through contact or quote forms and want to nurture them with email campaigns.
  • eCommerce store owners who capture customer information through order or inquiry forms and need it instantly inside SendGrid.
  • Developers and agencies who want a native SendGrid connection on a client site that retries and logs on its own, with no bridge to maintain.

Real-World Use Cases Include:

  • A newsletter signup form that adds each subscriber to your SendGrid welcome list automatically.
  • A quote request form that routes contacts into a sales list, while a separate connection adds anyone who opts in to your newsletter list.
  • A contact form on a client site that feeds the client’s own SendGrid account, set up once and left to run.

From Your Form to SendGrid in Four Steps

Make sure you are on the latest version of WPForms, then follow along.

Step 1: Create a SendGrid API Key

In your SendGrid account, go to Settings » API Keys and create a new key with Marketing permissions, then copy it.

API Keys page with a prominent 'Create API Key' button in the top-right of the screen

Step 2: Connect SendGrid in WPForms

In your WordPress dashboard, go to WPForms » Settings » Integrations » SendGrid, click Add New Account, and paste your API key.

Connect to SendGrid panel in WPForms: fill in required fields to add a new provider account, with a password field and a name field showing 'Sullie Eloso', and a prominent orange 'Connect to SendGrid' button.

Step 3: Add SendGrid to Any Form

Open any form in WPForms, then go to Marketing » SendGrid, add your connection, choose your action, and map your fields.

Dashboard-style UI: left vertical app navigation with 'Marketing' active; right side shows a SendGrid connection form titled 'SendGrid' with 'Add New Connection' button, fields for account, action, email, list, and custom fields.

Step 4: Hit Save and Watch the Profiles Land

Save your form, submit a few test entries, and watch the new contacts appear in your SendGrid account.

Why a Native SendGrid Integration Actually Matters

A bridge tool or a custom connection usually does one thing.

It fires the data off and hopes it arrives. If something goes wrong on the other end, you tend to find out much later, if you find out at all.

The WPForms SendGrid Addon works differently. It hands your contact to SendGrid and then watches the handoff through until it is done.

If a list or a custom field was changed in SendGrid after you built your form, the addon sets that one piece aside and still saves the rest of the contact, so a small change never costs you the whole lead.

And if something genuinely needs your attention, you get a note right on the entry and a one-click Resend to SendGrid button.

That kind of reliability comes from an integration built right into WPForms, the same form builder that already powers more than 6 million websites.
