But First, the Tools
Any good dad knows that having the right tools on hand is imperative for completing a great project.
So for the projects I’m sharing here, you’ll need the WPForms Pro license and the Coupons addon.
Be sure to activate the plugin and addon, and then you’re ready to go!
1. Create Clever Codes
Like the alliteration? Father’s Day is a good time to pull out your cleverest, puniest, cheekiest dad humor. Though, something can be said for going the sentimental route, too…
Whatever you decide, this dad theme should ring through your sales and discounts, including the coupon codes you make to correspond with your sales.
And while you want these codes to be on-theme, make sure that each code is fairly easy to spell, and isn’t loaded with random letters and numbers. Numbers should usually refer to the year the holiday is being celebrated, or could point to the sale or discount itself.
So, you might consider Father’s Day coupon codes such as:
DADSDAY2024
GIFT2DAD
DISCOUNT4DAD
FATHERSDAY24
SUPERDAD
How will you use your dad-humor or cleverness in your coupon codes? I’d love for you to share your ideas!

2. Utilize Dad Stuff
Father’s Day is a holiday that celebrates the dads in our lives, so it’s fitting to incorporate all the typical “dad stuff” throughout your marketing campaigns.
These marketing campaigns could incorporate anything from the emails you send to the coupon codes you make.
And being a summer holiday that celebrates men, you might consider some specific imagery and wording throughout your content.
Imagery of this dad stuff might include:
- ties
- sunglasses
- tools
- mustaches
- socks
- watches
- sports gear
In terms of the tone and messaging you include, be sure to play on the Father’s Day theme in your email subject lines, page copy, and anywhere else you can throughout your website and social media.
3. Run Sales on Men’s Items
If you operate an eCommerce store, Father’s Day would be a good time to run sales and offer discounts on men’s items.
Basically, all the dad stuff from idea #2 are the types of items you could offer discounts on, plus more.
And in the WPForms Coupons tab, it’s incredibly easy to select the categories you want to offer coupons on. Simply toggle on the items you want to include!
4. Collaborate with the “Cool Dads”
An affiliate program is a great way for you to collaborate with influencer-dad affiliates — a.k.a. the “cool dads.”
All you have to do is create your affiliate coupon in WPForms and provide your cool-dad affiliates with this code.
Your affiliates will then share the code with their followers, who will shop on your site and use the code the affiliate gave them.
Later, through order reports and tracking — which can be automated with Google Sheets — you can track each time an affiliate’s coupon has been used and configure their payout.
It’s a win-win for everyone!
5. Super Sale for Super Dad
Another Father’s Day marketing idea is to run a super sale for super dad.
To make this sale “super” you might offer store-wide discounts up to a large percentage or flat rate.
In my example above, I’ve created a super coupon of 40% off any item in the store. This discount can be applied to anything available, any time the shopper wants to use it.
But I’ve set the Max Uses field to 1, so the coupon can only be used once. Usually, if it’s a major discount you’re offering, I’d suggest limiting it to a short amount of time or a one-time use.
6. Give Dad a Gift
On Father’s Day, many dads are receiving gifts from their loved ones. It’s a thoughtful way to show gratitude to the dads in our lives.
So, in this spirit, why not give away your own big gift to Dad? In other words, you should host a giveaway on your site!
This giveaway could accompany the sale you’re running, and might even help its success.
We ran a giveaway here at WPForms last fall to promote a sale, and we were very impressed by the results. The giveaway prize was a new laptop, and we ended up breaking our record number of entries.
For your own Father’s Day giveaway, be sure to choose a must-have item to give away that any dad would be thrilled to have. This way, Dad gets a chance to win a great gift, and you get some viral traffic while your sale is running.
As for the logistics of your giveaway, I’d suggest using RafflePress to create and promote the event. You can easily add different actions to the giveaway, and then reward these “actions” with entries to your giveaway based on what you want participants to do.
RafflePress will then pick the winner of the giveaway, so you don’t have to do any tough decision-making and things are kept fair.

7. Dad’s Day Discount
I mentioned the different ways you can limit a coupon, usually by the start and end dates or by the maximum uses allowed.
This time, let’s consider a coupon that makes Father’s Day extra special.
In my example, I’m calling it a Dad’s Day Discount and I’m once again offering a generous discount of 40% off. I won’t specify any categories or items that the discount should be applied to, so my shoppers can use it for anything on the site.
But I am going to utilize the Start Date / Time and End Date / Time to limit this discount to one day only.
Now, customers can receive 40% off their purchase by entering the code DADSDAY2024 on the order form, but they’ve got to make the purchase on Father’s Day.
8. Pop-Ups for Pops
When you have all of your sales configured and styling on theme, you’ll want to notify your shoppers of these discounts anywhere you can.
So, why not have the notification pop-up right on screen? Popups are great for grabbing your shopper’s attention or notifying them of time-limited sales.
With the power of OptinMonster and WPForms, it’s easy to do! And what’s even better is, that you can actually create a popup for any type of form on your site you’d like — not just order forms.
That’s good news since popup forms are known to have higher click-through rates (CTRs) than other forms of advertising.
9. Compare Your Results
Once the holiday weekend has ended and all your sales are over, you should check out how your Father’s Day marketing strategy compares to other sales strategies, like Mother’s Day, for example.
For WPForms users, you can easily track your sales wins and coupon results right in your WordPress dashboard. In fact, you don’t even have to wait until your sale is over. You can track, compare, and analyze as you go.
