Would you like to limit how many checkboxes a user can select within a Checkboxes field? Normally a checkbox field will allow any number of boxes to be checked, but in some situations you might want to set a maximum. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to easily limit the number of checkboxes that can be selected.
Before we get started, you’ll need to either create a new form or edit an existing form.
Once the form builder is open, go ahead and add a Checkboxes field. Then click on that field in the preview panel.
This will open the Field Options panel. From here, scroll down until you can click on the Advanced Options section to open it.
You’ll see a bunch of options here to customize your checkbox field, but to set a maximum number of checkbox selections you’ll need to fill out the Choice Limit setting.
When you test out your form, you’ll see that checking too many boxes will display a validation error. The user will not be able to submit the form until they select the correct number of boxes.
That’s it! You can now limit the number of boxes that a user can check in a Checkboxes field.
