How Often Should Employee Engagement Surveys Be Conducted?

At the very least, aim to survey employees once a year. You could also conduct them twice a year or even quarterly. Consult with your human resources manager to coordinate distribution.

Don’t overdo it, though. Give yourself enough time to analyze the survey results. Take the feedback and implement any changes before sending another survey to employees.

Why Use the Likert Scale?

The questions in the survey template are in a 5-point Likert Scale format. Likert Scales often appear in these kinds of surveys because they’re easy to understand. They measure the extent to which the respondent agrees with a given statement. This allows for consistent responses.

Ask Employees Questions About Engagement

This employee engagement survey template is designed to learn how connected the employee is to their work and workplace. Even if the respondent chooses not to provide comments or suggestions at the end of the survey, there’s still insight you can glean if you ask the right questions.

For example, if an employee responds that they see opportunities for career development with your company, that’s a strong indicator that they can see the big picture and their long-term impact. They’re likely embedded in the workplace culture.

On the other hand, if a respondent indicates that they don’t feel appropriately challenged, perhaps the work isn’t utilizing enough of their skills and they’re disengaged. If they don’t understand how their work contributes to the company’s overall goals, maybe they can’t see the big picture.

Maybe they’re disengaged because of an issue with the work environment or company culture. It could be they don’t feel enough work-life balance. These are all fixable, but you have to know about them first.
